What this preview shows
The tool puts your image or video and your text into four common Meta placements: Facebook feed, Instagram feed, Stories and Reels. It cuts the primary text where a short preview would, checks whether your format fits the placement and warns you when something will be cropped or covered.
Where the text gets cut
Meta does not publish one exact point where "See more" appears. Its general recommendation is up to 125 characters of primary text, 40 for the headline and 25 for the description, and it says that longer text may be cut on some placements and devices. For Facebook Feed the Ads Guide recommends 50 to 150 characters of primary text and 27 for the headline, and for Instagram Reels only 44 characters of primary text.
That is why the preview cuts the text at the recommended length. Put the offer and the reason to click in the first sentence, because that part is seen by everyone.
Which format for which placement
- Facebook Feed: 4:5, 1440 × 1800 px recommended. Meta does not list 9:16 for Facebook Feed.
- Instagram Feed: 4:5 for images, 1440 × 1800 px. For video Meta recommends 9:16, 1080 × 1920 px.
- Stories and Reels: 9:16, 1440 × 2560 px recommended. Meta can pad or crop other ratios, but it recommends a 9:16 version.
- In Stories and Reels keep about 14% at the top, 35% at the bottom and 6% on each side free of text and logos. Check your frame in the Safe zones tool.
Before you publish
- Make one version for feed (4:5) and one for Stories and Reels (9:16) instead of one file for everything.
- Read only the first line of your text. If it does not make you want to tap, rewrite it.
- Check the preview in Ads Manager too, on a phone if you can, because that is where the real app layout shows.
FAQ
Is this exactly what people will see?
No. It is a neutral preview in our own design that shows proportions, crop and text length. The real look depends on the device, the app version and the person's settings, so also check the preview in Ads Manager before you publish.
Why is my text cut earlier on my phone?
Line breaks, emojis and a larger font setting take more room, so fewer characters fit before the "more" link. Keep the first sentence short and strong.
Which call to action buttons can I choose?
It depends on the campaign objective. Meta keeps a list of the buttons available for each objective, and the menu above has the ones used most often.
Do you see or keep my files?
No. Your browser opens the file from your device and nothing is uploaded or saved. When you close the tab, it is gone.
