Why convert WebP to JPG
Many websites use WebP because the files are smaller, and Google lists Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge and Opera as browsers that show it. Some older programs, print shops and upload forms still ask for JPG.
- Images you need to edit in an older program.
- Files for a print shop or a form that accepts only JPG.
- Images for someone who cannot open WebP.
WebP can be transparent and JPG cannot, so transparent areas get the color you choose. An animated WebP becomes one still image.
FAQ
Can I convert images I found on other websites?
Converting does not change who owns an image. Use images from other websites only if you have the right to use them.
Will the JPG be bigger than the WebP?
Usually yes, because WebP packs images more tightly. That is normal. Lower the quality a little if you need a smaller file.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Your files never leave your device. The browser converts them in this tab, and nothing is sent or saved.
